Saho Ono

Hi there! My name is Saho Ono. I’m a first-year student at Sophia University, and I’m 18 years old. However, I’m turning 19 on March 3rd, so I would be happy if you could celebrate it next week! It’s a bit embarrassing to say that by myself 😅

I was born in Osaka, but I lived in Tokyo for most of my life. My family consists of four people, mother, father, and younger sister who is a high school student.

The reason why I joined this program in Dunedin is that I like studying languages. Actually, my major is French (language), but I started studying it last year, so I’m still a beginner. I would like to have more conversations in English during my stay here and make my English more natural and fluent. Moreover, I want to make friends with both international students and Japanese students

My hobby is watching sports, and especially love baseballI have been a big fan of the Hanshin Tigers for more than 10 years. I watch baseball games almost every day, and I sometimes go to the stadium to cheer for them, but they seem to lose when I go

As for other sports, I belonged to the badminton club during junior high and high school, so

I often play it even now.

I also hang out a lot with my friends and family. For example, I enjoy shopping, going to cafes, having picnics, and traveling.
Feel free to invite me to have lunch/dinner or go outside! I would be very happy
😚

    1. I also think French is really difficult to acquire because of pronunciation and complicated grammar.

  6. Hi Saho! Great to meet you.
Thank you for talking with me as a partner in today’s class. That was a wonderful time!
I have a question: Why did you choose French as your second language? Have you ever been to France? Or want to go there someday?
Also, I’ll definitely remember to celebrate your birthday next week!

    1. Actually ,the reason why I chose French as my major is I got a recommendation from my high school 😅 But my interest in foreign language was my main decisive factor.

  9. Too bad that the Tigers lose whenever you attend their games! I think it is just a coincidence though. Keep going to see them play & you will eventually see them win. David :-)
